This hidden gem is nestled in Bundibugyo District with in the western part of Uganda at the base of Bwamba Escarpments at an elevation of almost 1099 meters above the seal level. Buranga hot springs were formed as a result of the tectonic activity in the rift valley.
The biodiversity of this hot spring consists of verdant forest and wetlands this place attracts numerous bird species and animal species often these species are seen licking the salt coming out of the earth.
At Buranga hot springs there are three stunning hot springs that are situated almost 700 meters from each other these include Nyansimbe hot spring, Kagoro hot spring, and Mumbuga hot spring.
Uniquely Buranga hot springs are separated in to two major attractions including the male spring and the female spring.
The male spring is more active compared to the female spring; the male one consists of a boiling pot where the water spews up out of the depths of the earth creating a continuous column of steam that is visible across the landscape.
The female spring consist of a very high temperature range rising to almost one hundred degrees celsius while at this site tourists can place banana, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava and fresh eggs and they will boil until they are ready for eating hence an ultimate experience.
Cultural beliefs
Buranga Hot Spring is a scared venue to some local people namely Bamba and Bakonjo plus traditional leaders who often visit this holy ground to cleanse and make offerings to the small gods as a way of thanks giving and praying for blessing, rain, good crop yields, wealth, healing of certain diseases among others.
Community Visits
Tourists visit the homesteads of the local people and engage in to interaction with them knowing how they spend their daily lives. The locals perform their traditional songs and dance hence a rewarding opportunity to the guests.

Buranga hot springs can be visited throughout the whole year however the best time to pay a visit is during the dry season of the year that typically runs from the month of June to August and from December to February during this period the weather is favorable for the outdoor activities and the roads are more accessible.
